“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
1 John 1:5-7

In verse 5, it tells us that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. This verse gives me hope and peace that whenever we feel like darkness is all we see, God is the light that will bring us through it. Our God is a perfect God who has no sin. In verse 6, it talks about how if we are all walking in sin and also trying to be in fellowship with God, then we are lying to ourselves and to God. This might sound dark to some, but verse 7 is there to give us hope. In this verse, it says that when we walk in the light with God, we will have fellowship with one another and Jesus’ blood will cleanse us from all sin.
This reminds me of Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” If we are walking in the light with God, like in 1 John 1:7, we will become the light of the world. We need to make sure we are spreading our light to others in our everyday lives. This is something that I try to do daily and encourage everyone else to do.
