Daily Devotion
Jesus Christ, who never sinned, endured extreme anguish in willingly taking all of our sins in His own body and carried them to the cross. He did this so we would not have to suffer the punishment we deserve.
We have been saved from death and are called to live for righteousness. Many go about their day just living for themselves. Looking for happiness, wealth, relationships, but these things will not fully satisfy apart from a relationship with Christ.
Matthew 16:26 - “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
The highest honors on this earth would not be worth our soul.
Even our thought life should submit to righteousness.
Philippians 4:8 - “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.
“By His wounds you have been healed.” Jesus bore the consequences of sin for us, and we have been forgiven and saved.
Isaiah 53:5 “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Proverbs 15:9 - “The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness.”
When we try to keep focused each day on what all Christ endured for us we should be humbled to pursue righteousness, in our thoughts and actions.
