Daily Scripture
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”
Matthew 5:21-22
Daily Devotion
Many people in the world struggle with anger and have questions. Many people look to the wrong things for answers. Jesus has the answer on to how to handle our anger. In this passage, Jesus is showing that he has the authority to give us the answer. The pharisees believed that it was only wrong to be angry with your brother and commit the physical act of murder. If anger leads to hate in our heart to the point that we want to commit murder, we have sinned. So we must be careful to control the anger we have and rely on Jesus to give us the strength to control that anger. My prayer for you and me is that we rely on the strength of Jesus to help us control our anger and not sin.
