“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.”
Jeremiah 1:19
Daily Devotion
Recently, I looked back on my life and thought about my testimony. For years, I believed that I didn’t have a testimony because I was saved at a young age. About 6 years ago, I realized that your testimony is more than a story about how you got saved. It’s a story about God working in your life and it doesn’t stop the day you get saved. Instead, it continues until he calls you home.
Within the past year, I was able to see my life come together in a way that only God could orchestrate. I changed my major 3 times in college because I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. When I finally settled on accounting, I had no clue where I wanted to work. I went to a career fair and gave my resume to the GA Department of Audits, because I didn’t want to be rude. I had no intention of working there, because I did not want to work in Atlanta. I interviewed with them because I thought it would be good practice for me and when they offered me a job, I realized that’s where the Lord wanted me at that moment.
Five years later, I quit because I knew the Lord wanted me somewhere else. I spent about 6 months without a job but looking back, I can see where the Lord was with me. I was able to spend that time helping out my family in their time of need. I found a new job working for the city and because of the shorter commute I was able to get involved in the church more. At 30 years old, I am the Chairman of the Stewardship Committee and the Finance Director for the City of Calhoun. None of these accomplishments are because of works that I’ve done, but it’s because God was with me throughout my life. He doesn’t promise that life will be easy, but he does promise to be with you even if you can’t see it yet.
I want to encourage you to trust in the Lord and His plan even when you can’t see the big picture. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for my life, and I have faith that the Lord will be with me throughout it.
