Daily Scripture
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
James 1:12
Daily Devotion
As Christians, it’s times we are under trial that remind us how dependent we are on the Lord and how we need to trust His plan. When we undergo hard times and difficult situations, it is easy to lose sight of the bigger picture instead of looking at it through the perspective of what God may be doing in our lives.
The first part of the verse says “Blessed is the man..” Honestly, when I am struggling and facing something difficult, the LAST thing I think is “I am blessed.” I tend to get angry and wonder why God has allowed me to deal with this. When our eyes remain on the Lord during a trial, we are fortunate. We should look at it in the way of being highly favored by the grace of God. When our eyes are on the Lord, we are undisturbed by the chaos around us. We remain joyful and thankful.
Trusting in the Lord during trials is not always easy. It takes endurance and courage. It doesn’t mean we are naive to what is going on around us, it means we are choosing faith over feeling sad, fearful, angry, helpless, and burdened. Steadfastness leads to God’s perfect gift - the crown of life!
