Daily Scripture
“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.”
John 14:21-24
Daily Devotion
Love is a word that is thrown around a lot in today's world. Love is more than a word that is thrown around, Love is a commitment. When we truly love something we are willing to do anything and everything to be sure that it is successful.
As football season is gearing up, I can’t help but to think about the guys that you watch on the field and their love for the game. In the off season, I have been watching (thanks to my wonderful husband) stories about teams and what it is like in the off season for these guys and the teams. There is so much that goes on “behind the scenes”. There are late night work-outs, early morning meetings, team building outings, and so much more. These guys have a love for the game and they do whatever their coaches and teammates ask of them in order to better themselves and their team.
As the team of Christ, we have been given The BIBLE as our play book and have been instructed to obey it. Our obedience in the Word of God shows our Love for Christ and his mission for us here on earth. As Christains, to show our love to Christ, we must obey him, be consistent in his word, do the work behind the scenes so that when we are in public and around others, our natural wellbeing will be an overflow of showing our Love for Christ. Just as those guys love football and love to show you each week what they have worked to accomplish (a win), we must be ready to show “a win” in our everyday life of showing Christ’s Love through obedience.
Romans 5:5 “God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
