Daily Scripture
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
Psalm 119:11
daily Devotion
When we surrender our lives to Jesus and accept salvation, we are forgiven and released from the bondage of our sin. Does that mean the things we use to struggle with just disappear? No way! Although we are not a slave to our sin anymore, it becomes an every day battle to resist temptation and walk a new life in Christ. If I had to simplify the ultimate goal of the Christian life in just a couple of phrases I would say that we are to turn away from sin, glorify God, and enjoy Him forever. Sounds easy, right? Not always. Whether we want to admit it or not, a lot of us fall into the same trap of sin over and over again. That’s why it is so important to be armed with the knowledge of God. In this verse, it states that when we read the Bible and treasure it in our hearts, we have the ability to turn away from sin. When we meditate on the Word daily, it becomes a part of who we are. If it becomes a part of who we are, sin is not even in our peripheral vision. Things in our lives fight for attention, and we fall short by embracing them as being better than God’s will for our lives. When we keep our eyes locked on the Lord, we are reminded that sin does not have power over us anymore and that we are able to enjoy all that comes with being a child of God!
