Emotional Honesty and Enduring Faith

Daily Scripture

“As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”

Exodus 14:10–12

devotion

The Israelites' cries and complaints reflect the rawness of human emotion in difficult times. Yet Moses calls them to quiet their fear and trust in God’s faithfulness. It is natural to feel fear and doubt, but it is important not to let those emotions lead us to disbelief. God wants us to be emotionally honest with Him, but He also calls us to trust in His plan even when we don't understand it.

Are you allowing your emotions to lead you away from trusting God, or are you bringing your feelings to Him in faith?
